I’ve have had a little too many negatives happen to me recently that let’s talk about something completely different.
Continue readingWhy the technical medical title today? It’s 9:40am and I just experienced my first episode of it for the day and if I’m careful then it will be my last. Orthostatic hypotension is a drop in blood pressure, particularly the diastolic, by 20 points or more on average. In a nutshell it’s that light-headedness one feels when they rise up from a lower position to a standing position.
My drops can be fairly large which leave me light-headed enough to cause me to almost black out and fall to the ground. For me my drops average around 30-40+. A recent episode went from 1670/100 to 121/80. Yes, I know those numbers are high in general and at one time I was taking meds to decrease my BP but then when I was hospitalized back in October or 2023 they took that away due to concern of how low my BP would drop. OK, that makes sense to start off.
Continue readingI have been working for quite a while now to record my home video of me playing the sax. It’s been mostly medical setbacks that has stopped me from publishing even a first test video. Technology that has held me back is what software to use and then how to use. I started to use OBS Studio a while for another project that got shelved, but now it’s been dragged out (reinstalled) again.
My personal deadline to have this first YouTube video published is by January 1st, 2024. It will be a simple one of me just playing 3 songs on my alto saxophone as a birthday gift for my Mom. She will be turning 86 and lives in a senior living home by herself. Since she isn’t very techno-literate I will have the help of one of my sisters to share it with her.
Over the next several months as I have recorded more songs, I will create a DVD for her to watch whenever she wishes. One step at a time and I have to survive the holidays first and to see what my medical future holds.
Why are you seeing the coffee cup in the lower right-hand corner of my page? Clicking on it takes you to my account page on Buy Me a Coffee website where a person can find it easy to make a small, or larger donation, to assist me with my musical and medical journey.
When one lives with a disability it is a lot harder to find discretionary resources to use one’s hobbies and interests. Maybe it could be as simple as a box of reeds to use on my saxophone, or larger pieces of equipment to use in my “studio”. Or to help pay for that bottle of ibuprofen to help with migraines.
Is it begging for money? Maybe, maybe not. That’s for each person to have their own personal view.
