I’ve have had a little too many negatives happen to me recently that let’s talk about something completely different.

My first car was a 1982 Honda Civic 1300FE 5-speed manual. My parents were at a popular ice cream place in town one and there was a small local car dealership across the street. At that moment my relationship was a long distance one (WI to MN) plus I was working full time at a restaurant and a car could proof to be beneficial to me. So off for a little stroll they took.

The next day my father took me to look at it. Let’s just the “deal” was done whether or not I was ready for it. Then again, a day later we were there again to meet with a salesperson and probably an hour later and keys were in my hands. I should add that this was happening in early fall of 1986, just after my new girlfriend left for MN.

My Dad was “jealous” of my car. Why? Well because his car was a 1981 Honda Civic 1300 4-speed manual. HIs radio was mono while mine was stereo. The FE designation on mine meant that it was the Fuel-Efficient model. My car would easily get 35+ city driving and usually 50+ on the highway.

It wasn’t long until I upgraded my radio to have cassette ability. Drives really did take a little longer back then as the speed limit was 55MPH even on the interstates. Luckily the interstates went to 65 not long after I started driving these long distance trips to MN.

I don’t remember when in the mid-90s that I sold it to my now sister–in-law for a $1. She only got a year or two use out of it but that was good enough for her. And then Brownie was taken away.
